Remarkable heritage!

The Château de Teillan , listed as a Historic Monument, is located 3 kilometers south of the village of Aimargues. In the 12th century, it was sold to the Abbey of Psalmody.

Thanks to a decree of 1635, the owners of the castle were authorized to collect Roman remains in the magnificent park. The park is also listed as a Historic Monument . Landscaped and romantic, it was built in the 19th century around exceptional Roman stelae and milestones. You can admire beautiful specimens of trees: gingko biloba, sequoia and photinia.

Also accessible to visitors are three remarkable buildings: the noria, the 16th century dovecote and the chapter house in the main building of the castle. The dovecote with a bishop's miter vault was made of cut stone around 1600 with an interior wooden revolving ladder. The vaulted room on the ground floor served as a prison for the seigniory. The wheel well or noria, connected to the Vidourle by an underground aqueduct, dates from 1609. Its superstructures were redesigned during the Restoration so as to constitute a vast basin fed by a stone overflow basin, in place of the old wooden trough. The mechanics were constantly maintained until around 1920, because it watered the vegetable garden.
